Terms of Service

1. Nature of Service

GetDeathCertificates.com provides document preparation and submission services to assist individuals in obtaining certified death certificate copies from government vital records offices. We are a private company providing a professional service - we are not a government entity.

Our service fee of $45 per copy is our charge for this preparation and submission service. This is separate from (and includes) the official government fees paid to the vital records office.

2. Eligibility

By using our service, you represent that:

• You are 18 years of age or older
• You have a legal right to request the death certificate (immediate family member, legal representative, or other qualifying relationship under state law)
• All information you provide is accurate and truthful
• You are not requesting certificates for fraudulent or illegal purposes

3. Service Scope

Our service includes:

• Identifying the appropriate vital records office
• Preparing the required application documents
• Advancing official government fees on your behalf
• Submitting your request to the vital records office
• Delivering certified copies to your address upon receipt

Our service does NOT include:

• Guaranteeing specific processing times (these are controlled by government offices)
• Legal advice of any kind
• Certified copies with any modifications or translations

4. Processing Times

Processing times are estimates based on typical government vital records office processing. We do not control and cannot guarantee processing times. Government vital records offices may experience delays due to high volume, staffing, or other factors.

5. Refund Policy

Before submission: Full refund if you cancel before we submit your application to the vital records office.

After submission: Because government fees are non-refundable once paid, our service fee is non-refundable after submission. If a government office rejects your application for reasons attributable to our error, we will resubmit at no additional charge or issue a refund of our service fee.

6. Accuracy of Information

You are responsible for providing accurate information. Errors in the deceased's name, date of death, county, or state may result in delays or rejection by the vital records office. We are not liable for delays or rejections caused by inaccurate information you provide.

7. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your order. We are not liable for:

• Government processing delays
• Postal service delays or losses
• Inability to locate a record in the vital records office
• Consequential, incidental, or special damages

8. Privacy

Your privacy is protected under our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Service.

9. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims eligible for small claims court.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
